Flying And Dining, LLC

For sponsors and partners

Reach the pilots who fly for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Flying And Dining helps pilots find restaurants they can fly to, on the field or a short walk from the ramp, and keep a free Passport of every one they visit. If your organization serves general aviation pilots, students or instructors, here's how we could work together.

What this is

Pilots have always used a good meal as a reason to fly. Flying And Dining puts those restaurants in one place: on the field, or a short walk from the ramp. Each one has a page with what to order, where to park and how to get there.

Pilots keep a free digital Passport. Every meal they log earns a stamp and moves them up the ratings, and some restaurants offer perks to pilots who fly in, like a free meal for a first solo. A paper Passport with real stamps is on the way.

It's free for pilots and free for restaurants, and it will stay that way. Sponsors and supporters are how it grows.

Who you reach

Mostly people who fly for the fun of it: student pilots and their instructors, owners, renters and flying clubs. They plan trips around where to eat, and log their visits in the Passport, often right at the table. The site is open to everyone, so it also reaches passengers, families and people who just love a good airport restaurant.

The airport restaurants themselves are part of the audience too. They're small businesses that depend on pilots showing up.

The site is new, so I won't quote you big numbers I don't have. What I will do is show you real ones as they grow: visits, Passport holders, stamps logged and perks used.

Ways to sponsor

These are starting points. If you have a better idea, I'd like to hear it.

Featured restaurant of the month

Each month one restaurant gets the spotlight on the home page, in Postflight and in the monthly email. Your name goes on it.

Pilot perks

Fund a perk at restaurants you choose, like a first-solo meal or a cross-country lunch, and pilots see who made it happen.

Passport milestones

Pilots earn ratings as they log meals. Put your name on a milestone or the reward that comes with it.

The Restaurant Race and merch

Four restaurant ideas competing to open first, with shirts that count as votes. There's room for a partner.

Students and flight schools

Milestone meals for first solos and checkrides. A natural fit for schools, insurers and training companies.

Postflight and the monthly email

Stories about flying somewhere for a meal, sent once a month to members who asked for them.

A “Sponsored by” spot

Your name and logo where they fit: the Meal Map, the Passport page, or the restaurants in a state you care about. Always clearly labeled.

What you get back

A plain report on what your sponsorship did: how many people saw it, how many clicked, and how many used a perk you funded. Your links are tagged so the visits they send are counted.

You'll also get a picture of who these pilots are, in totals. How many are students, how many are instructors, which states they fly in. Pilots who list a certificate are checked against the FAA's public airman database, and I'll tell you how many were confirmed. I only share a breakdown once a group is large enough that nobody can be picked out.

See the dashboard

Ask for a login and you'll get your own sponsor dashboard: visits, Passport holders, who they are and where they fly, all in totals. It's early and the numbers are small, so the most useful part may be the box at the bottom where you tell me what you'd need to see.

What I won't do

  • ✓ Share or sell a pilot's name, email or anything else about them. Totals only.
  • ✓ Charge a restaurant to be listed, or rank one higher because someone paid.
  • ✓ Fill the site with ads. Sponsors appear where they fit, next to something useful, always clearly labeled.

Who's behind it

I'm Jeff Broomall, a professional pilot who started out in restaurants. Along the way I worked at AOPA as an Aviation Technical Specialist and an AOPA Online Specialist, helping members every day.

Flying And Dining is a one-person operation under Flying And Dining, LLC. When you write, you're writing to me. More about me.

Questions

Is there a rate card?

Not yet. It’s early, and I’d rather build the first few sponsorships with you than guess at a price list. Tell me what you have in mind and we’ll work it out.

Can you send me your pilots’ names or emails?

No. Not to sponsors, not to restaurants, not to anyone. You get totals, like how many pilots are students or which states they fly in. That’s also in my privacy policy.

Do restaurants pay to be listed?

No. Every listing is free and stays free. A restaurant’s place on the site never depends on whether they or a sponsor pay anything.

Is everyone a pilot?

No, and they don’t have to be. The site is open to anyone who likes a good airport restaurant. Members who list a pilot certificate are checked against the FAA’s public airman database, so when I share totals I can tell you how many are confirmed pilots.

Who decides what gets featured?

I do. A sponsor can put its name on a featured month or a perk, but the restaurants are picked because they’re worth the flight.
