Welcome to Flying And Dining

Welcome. I'm Jeff Broomall, and I'm glad you found your way here.
I took my first flight on January 18, 1989, and general aviation still gets me. Pick a spot on the chart, preflight, and go. Very few things in life give you that kind of freedom, and I don't take it for granted.

Once I had my certificate and more say in where I went, plenty of my flights were planned around lunch. In the early '90s, Sanford and St. Simons Island were favorites. A meal was the excuse to go somewhere new, and those little restaurants gave pilots a reason to keep showing up at small fields. Later, as an instructor, a lot of flights still ended at the airport restaurant. I look for the one on the field today, even flying a small jet.

Before all of that I worked in restaurants, starting in high school, so I know how hard it is to keep the doors open.
In October 1993 I went to work at AOPA, first as an Aviation Technical Specialist and later as an AOPA Online Specialist. Flying And Dining is my way of serving pilots again, and the restaurants that feed them.
Here you'll find airport restaurants across the country, on the field or a short walk from the ramp, plus a few pilot favorites a short drive away. Keep track of where you've eaten in your free Passport, with a photo and a note about the meal, and earn ratings as you go. If you know a place I'm missing, suggest it.
Postflight is where I'll write: the monthly featured restaurant, places I've landed, and what's new on the site. This note stays at the top so anyone new starts here.
Thank you for stopping by. Now go fly somewhere for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Jeff
